born on 25 June 1943 (death record). His
birth was registered in the second quarter of 1943 (GRO

Standard 18 June 1948: FANCY DRESS PARADE. In aid of the
funds of the Moorsholm Memorial Hall a fancy dress parade and sports were held.
The judges for the parade were Captain and Mrs Cann
of the Church Army, Lingdale.... Prize winners in the
parade were... Comic … 2. Billy Farndale...

The Cleveland Standard, 6 April 1950: CLEVELAND
SCHOOLS MAKE HIT IN DRAMA. The success of the East Cleveland Schools Drama
Festival, held in the Stanghow Lane County Modern School last Friday and
Saturday more than atoned for the hard work undertaken by teachers and
scholars. The long hours of work in preparation was reflected in the manner in
which the children carried out their allotted parts, and also in the costumes
and stage props made by the scholars under the supervision of the teachers.
Moorsholm juniors gave a marionette show in six scenes, a free adaptation of
“Jack and the Beanstalk” and the marionettes used had been fashioned by the
children... At a second session, further scenes from “A Midsummer Night's
Dream” were given by scholars of the Lingdale County

after a depressing morning of heavy rain and mist did little to lessen the
