Joan’s
daughter, Anne has kindly shared the following:
My mother was
born Joan Margaret Farndale, on 4 August 1937. I do know a few details of her
childhood, and schooling etc. She married Christopher Barcus Darling, who she
met at Salt Grammar School. As he was a journalist, she moved, having given
birth to Christopher David Darling on 24 May1960, to Stretford Avenue,
Manchester. Here she had Katharine Mary Darling on 27 January 1962 at Oldham
Cottage Hospital. The family then moved to Twickenham, Richmond, however
Christopher Darling sadly passed away whilst living there. Mum returned to
Baildon, where her parents, and Grandmother on her own mother’s side lived, and
eventually bought a house on Woodcot Avenue. Whilst
living here, she met Donald Pedley, who she married on 19 March 1966, and had
myself, Anne Rachel Pedley born in 1967. Sadly, Joan Pedley (was Darling, nee
Farndale) passed away on 23 April 1999.

Joan M Farndale,
married Christopher John Barkas Darling (1937 to 1963) in 1957 and their
marriage was registered in the third quarter of 1957 at Worth Valley District (GRO Vol 2c page 119).

Barkas Darling was the son of Richard S Darling (1900 to 1981) and Margaret
(nee Heatley) Darling (1908 to 1983) and was born on 26 December 1936 and
brought up in Northumberland.

David Christopher
Darling was born on 24 May 1960.
1962
Katharine Darling
was born in 1962.
1963
Christopher
Darling passed away on 20 March 1963 at the age of 25 (Email,
Probate Index). They had been married for five years.
1966
Joan M Darling
married Donald Pedley (1927 to 2006) in 1966 and their marriage was registered
in Wharfedale in the first quarter of 1966 (GRO Vol
2d page 1665).
1967
They had a
daughter, Anne Rachel Pedley (later Smeaton) was born in 1967.
1999
Joan Margaret
Pedley, born 4 August 1937, passed away in Bradford on 23 April 1999 aged 61 (GRO District 811E Register Number E62A entry 208).
