Jeremiah Baker was the son of William and Sarah (nee Bagnall) Baker (FAR00084). He was born on 28 September 1778 (St Peter ad Vincula, Stoke on Trent Parish Records).

 

 

1800

 

Jeremiah Baker married Mary Aynsley at Norton in the Moors, Staffordshire on 1 December 1800 (St Barthlomew, Norton le Moors, Staffordshire Parish Records).

 

 

Jeremiah, of Coventry Street, Bethnal Green, Middlesex, London agent for Bourne, Baker and Bourne, living 1822, married Ainsty and had issue (Burke, John and Burke, Sir Bernard (1836)(Eighteenth Edition, 1972), Bellyse Baker of Highfields in Burke’s Landed Gentry, Volume 3, pages 35 to 38).

 

They had ten children.

 

Their daughter, Elizabeth (Betsy) born 1 April 1812 (seems to be in error), married 21 June 1832, Lieutenant John Coomer Bridgwood, 7th Hussars, who emigrated to Virginia 1833 and later settled in California, son of Sampson Bridgwood, of Longton, Staffordshire, and died at San Francisco 1896 leaving issue, two daughters (of whom the elder, Frances Smith married 26 July 1858 her mother’s first cousin, Charles Brown of 359 Broadway, New York, and had issue, who included Arthur Francis Brown, murdered in San Francisco, November 1898)(Burke, John and Burke, Sir Bernard (1836)(Eighteenth Edition, 1972), Bellyse Baker of Highfields in Burke’s Landed Gentry, Volume 3, pages 35 to 38).

William Thorley Baker was born on 8 April 1810.   

 

 

1819

 

Their daughter Elizabeth Baker was born in England on 24 May 1819 and died in San Francisco, California. She married John Coomer Bridgwood in England and they emigrated to USA. He died in Virginia and she then moved to St Helena, Napa County, California, Their daughter, Virginia Bridgwood married Dr Stratton of St Helena. They had two sons, Frank Stratton (unmarried) and Herbert Stratton who married Anna Campoebell. Their younger daughter, Sarah Bridgwood, married Charles Mar Brown in 1858. (US Family History Books).
