Sarah married John Purdy (see census records) who was born in 1846 in Northumberland. They were married in Stockton in the last quarter of 1866.

Lily Purdy was born in 1869.

Sarah Purdy died in 1871, and the death was registered at Guisborough. She was buried at Brotton on 14 August 1871 at St Margaret Church. She was shown as living at Saltburn (though Saltburn is of course next to Marske). She was only 24 years old.
