1689

Diana Dod was the daughter of George and Charity Dod (DOD00101) and was born in or about 1689 and baptised at Audlem on 17 November 1689 (Audlem Parish Records).

1736

Diana lived at Bridgnorth.

Her niece Jane Dod (DOD00130) often stayed with her, and it was here that Jane Dod met the young architect, William Baker.

Often [Jane] would stay with her Aunt Diana Dod, who lived at Bridgnorth and it was here that she met a young architect, William Baker. She was staying at Bridgnorth with her grandmother in 1736 when the latter died. Jane and William were married the same year and, as her grandfather had died some years earlier, they returned to Highfields. (Baker, J Bellyse (1982), Highfields, Audlem: Sixteenth Century Home of the Dod and Baker Families, Audlem District History Society, page 11).

c 1757

At Ludlow lived Aunt Dia Dod and several loans from her are recorded [in William Baker’s Account Book] (Oswald, Arthur (1954), William Baker of Audlem, Architect, in Collections for a History of Staffordshire, The Staffordshire Record Society, page 111). Many visits to Ludlow are recorded during the earlier years when Aunt Dia Dod, his wife’s aunt, was living there and when he went to see his father at Leominster. (Oswald, Arthur (1954), William Baker of Audlem, Architect, in Collections for a History of Staffordshire, The Staffordshire Record Society, page 114).

Diana died unmarried (Burke, John and Burke, Sir Bernard (1836)(Eighteenth Edition, 1972), Bellyse Baker of Highfields in Burke’s Landed Gentry, Volume 3, pages 35 to 38).
