Sarah Baker was the daughter of
William and Mary (nee Bourne) Baker (BAK00106).
She was born on 23
June 1808 and baptised on 13 July
1808 at St Peter Ad Vincula, Stoke on Trent (St Peter Ad Vincula, Stoke on Trent Parish Records).
1832
She married on 26 April
1832 at Stoke-on-Trent, John Hitchman (d.
1867) of Leamington (Warwickshire), a surgeon.
MARRIAGES. … On the 26th Ult, at
Leamington, John Hitchman, Esquire, of that place, to Sarah, daughter of
William Baker, Esquire, of Fenton, Staffordshire (Coventry Herald and Observer, 4 May 1832).
On the 26th ult John
Hicthman Esq of Leamington, to Sarah, fifth daughter of William Baker Esq of
Fenton, Staffordshire (Berrow’s Worcester Journal, 3
May 1832).
Sarah, married John Hitchman MD,
MRCS, LSA of Beauchamp House, Leamington Priors, Warwickshire, and dsp 7 July

She died on 7 July 1890 and was buried on 12 July 1890 (St John the Baptist, Leamington
Parish Records). Hitchman, Sarah.
Personal Estate Ł69,975 2s 11d. 11 September. The Will of Sarah Hitchman formerly
of Leamington Priors in the County of Warwick but late of Fenton House Fenton
in the Parish of Stole on Trent in the County of Stafford Widow who died 7 July
1890 at “Hawkstone” Inn Weston-under-Redcastle in the County of Salop was
proved at the Principal Reghistry by William Meath Baker of Hasfield Court in
the County of Glouicester the nephew and Joseph Gimson of Fenton Esquires the
Executors. (Probate Record).

inst at Hawkstone Hotel, Shropshire, Sarah Hitchman of Fenton House,
Staffordshire, widow of the late John Hitchman Esq of Leamington. No flowers by
