Sophia Farndale, daughter of Charles and Ann Farndale (FAR00341) was born in 1884 and her birth was registered in Guisbro District in the third quarter of 1884 (GRO Vol 9d page 520).

By 1899, she was selling toys at the new year bazaar:

 

Northern Echo, 3 January 1899: BROTTON WESLEYANS. On Monday the Brotton Wesleyan Methodist Society held their annual New Year's Day tea, sale of work etc and the event was a successful one. The stalls for the bazaar had been arranged in the schoolroom, and filled with a choice of good, useful and fancy articles. The ladies who superintended them were Miss farndale, Kilton Lodge, Mrs Merryweather and Mrs Mede, ladies’ work stall; Miss Farndale, fruit, sweets, jellies etc and Miss S Farndale and Miss Snave, toys etc. At the time for the opening of the proceedings of goodly number of persons assembled in the schoolroom including visitors from Loftus, Skelton, Kilton and other places. The opening ceremony was gracefully performed by Mrs Davison …
