Thomas Farndale was born on 29 Feb 1828, the son of John Christopher Farndale, painter and later master mariner, and Ann Farndale (FAR00244), baptised Whitby on 3 July 1828 (Whitby PR & IGI).

1841

 

The Census of 1841 for Cray, Whitby listed Thomas Farndale, son of Ann Farndale, age 13, born in Yorks, (ie born about 1828) with Ann Farndale, 45; John Farndale, 10 and Mary Farndale, 8.

 

1851

 

By 1851, Thomas was a ship broker’s clerk.

The Census of 1851 for St Ann’s, Snaith, Whitby listed Thomas Farndale, unmarried, aged 23, ship broker’s clerk, born Whitby who lived with Ann Farndale, 55, painter’s widow; Thomas Farndale, 23, ship broker’s clerk; Mary Farndale, 18, bonnet maker; Grace Harland, nephew, 13.

 

1859

 

Thomas Farndale died on 28 May 1859 at Whitby and was buried on 1 June 1859 at Whitby, aged 31. He lived at West Terrace at the time. The Whitby Gazette, 4 June 1859: DEATHS. On Saturday, the 28th ult, aged 31, Mr Thomas Farndale, West Terrace.
